Seamless gutters can last a very long time with proper care and maintenance that includes yearly cleaning of the gutters (or more often as needed). Leaf and debris clogging seamless gutters is the number one cause of gutter failure. Furthermore, clogged seamless gutters can damage your home by potentially causing wood rot and foundation erosion in the most extreme cases. We provide annual or bi-annual seamless gutter cleanings at reasonable rates!
Over time, the sealant around the miters and end caps of seamless gutters can wear out causing leaks to start occurring. At Martin’s Seamless Gutters we only use the highest quality gutter sealant on all of our projects. It is important that you hire a gutter professional to reseal your gutters if you have leaks as sealants from big box stores are not suitable or compatible with gutters sealants used by contractors. Using the wrong sealant can not only cause your gutters to leak, but also may cause your gutters to need to be replaced! Only professional gutter installers should perform this kind of maintenance on your seamless gutters. Another common issue that can cause leaks is inadequate use of sealant on your end caps and miters. A properly sealed miter/end cap should have sealant spread evenly over the seam and around all screws used to secure the miter in place. Also, the sealant should run up the back of the miter and cover that area completely. The tiniest hole in sealant can cause a leak. At Martin’s we properly seal your seamless gutters – the more we use, the better! If you suspect a leak, you can simply use a water hose to spray water on your roof to test the end caps and miters.
Also, if gutters are not properly installed, they can eventually warp that not only looks unsightly but also can reduce or inhibit the gutters from working properly. In cases like this, your seamless gutters must be replaced by a professional seamless gutter contractor. At Martin’s we run into issues like this constantly from other seamless gutter contractors and end up doing the correct gutter repair or replacement. The golden rule of gutters is this – you take care of your gutters, and they will take care of your home! We provide a lifetime warranty on our workmanship!
